Break the Trance

Trance.jpg

Here's a question I want you to think about: What makes your day difficult? In other words, on a very basic level, what keeps you from doing what you need to do?

I realize that every day is different and that each day comes with its share of difficulties, but I want you to focus on the difficulty (difficulties) that seem to run through most days.

As you answer this question, is there a pattern? Is it lack of time? No help from others? An overall sense of stress? An inability to stay on track? Money shortage?

Or, did you notice that there is no pattern? Meaning, you seem to always just end up at the close of another day thinking, "What the heck happened?" (When my days end that way, I feel like a hot mess.)

Pattern or no pattern, daily difficulties happen. And, it's your daily difficulties that can keep you stuck. You're stuck because you keep staring at the same problems over and over and over like you glare at a bright, shiny object.

I like to describe this as being 'transfixed'. And, while being transfixed can feel like you're moving in the right direction of overcoming the difficulty and moving on, the opposite is happening. The truth is, you're actually stuck.

And why are you stuck? Because when you're transfixed, everything else gets blocked out. You can't see answers. You can't see solutions. You can't hear someone's encouragement. You can't think anything else. You only see the difficulty.

Here's how to remedy being stuck:
1) Realize when you're in the trance
2) Break the trance by focusing elsewhere
3) Look for (another) solution

You're probably wondering how you do that? Well, the answer is so simple! For example, let's say you're at your desk — and in your mind — you're freaking out over how little time you have to finish your report.

It's then — in that moment — that you recognize that (1) You're transfixed on the stress of having little time. (2) You break the trance by telling yourself, "If I'm short time, me worrying about lack of time takes precious time from completing my project. (3) I will focus, now, back on finishing my project."

I know you're probably thinking, well that won't work. But, trust me, it works. Try it. The next time you're in the middle of your difficulty I recommend you realize it, break it, and apply a solution.

So, what do you do if you can't find (another) solution? Well, don't worry about that. At least you broke the trance and you don't feel stuck. And that's a great feeling right there.

Stuck In Mud

Mud.jpg

I get really excited when I see people excited about their future. On Facebook, people are announcing that 2019 is going to be their best year ever. On Twitter, I watch videos on what people are doing to change their life going forward.

If I may, though, I’d like to speak directly to those of you that feel stuck right now. I want to put it in your heart that you can change, grow, and thrive. Yes, you will need to exert more energy to bust out of your current situation, but that’s only because you’re stuck (think of a car stuck in mud).

Some of you want to completely change your life, and some of you want to improve doing what you’re already doing. Both groups have their own set of challenges. And, it’s your job to figure out how to leverage your strengths and strengthen your limitations.

Get a coach, get a book, meditate, pray, get in a mastermind group, attend a retreat, or just simply listen to your heart. But, whatever you decide, you just need to hit the gas, get out of the mud, and experience a fresh, new beginning.

Can't Move

Cant_Move.jpg

For me, figuring out where to start is more difficult than starting. Does that make sense? In other words, my mind has a tendency to think every : little : thing over before making my first move.

What needs to improve? The quickness at which starting happens. So, if you are challenged with this, my recommendation is that you push yourself to either go right -- or go left -- but get going.

The Truth About Being Stuck

Figure Out Why You're Stuck

Drama. It distracts. Anything that distracts you from what you need to be doing can keep you stuck. And feeling stuck is an awful feeling.

Step back for a moment and scrutinize your daily life. Find out if you are allowing drama to dominate your time. Remember, drama may feel important and necessary at the time, but the truth is, that it is a surface diversion.

This means, stay focused on your goals. Know where you want to go and keep out those pesky distractions. The ultimate end is the feeling you get when you achieve and accomplish your dream.

From Stuck to Success

You use words. And, specific words work for you or against you. When you want to change, grow, improve, learn, move, or do differently, your words matter.

And, not only are your words important, but many times what you're saying isn't really what you mean. Here are a few examples:

Statements that keep you stuck
"I will get fit when I find the perfect personal trainer."
"My business will grow when I figure out how to sell."
"I will manifest money when I put out the right intention."
"I'll succeed when I get over feeling stuck."
"I will speak up to my boss when I have more confidence."

The common word in each statement
You guessed it! The word is "when".

Statements that use the words if, when, because all have the power to keep you stuck. That's because you're telling yourself that you can't take action on what you want until you have, do, or get something.

I recommend you pay attention to what you are saying to yourself, and how your statements might be keeping you stuck in areas like relationships, fitness, business, finances, or personal growth, then rewrite them.

Rewrite stuck statements to success statements
Rip your statements apart. Don't discredit them, just redo them. Here's how to do that:
"I am working on fitness."
"I am studying selling to help my business grow."
"I am attracting money with my prosperity mindset."
"I am taking action now."
"I am scheduled to meet with my boss this afternoon."

The big difference
Can you see how those five simple sentences -- when changed -- change everything? If you do, rewrite your statements tonight when you get off work. Then, every time you hear yourself say, "I will go walk when I feel like it", stop, and say, "I will walk now."
