If you've every felt different — you know, creative — read Twyla Tharp's book The Creative Habit. I just finished it, and I'm shocked at how much I learned about the importance of utilizing habits to support your creativity.
Here are some of my favorite lines from the book:
"A lot of habitually creative people have preparation rituals linked to the setting in which they choose to start their day. By putting themselves into that environment, they begin their creative day."
"If art is the bridge between what you see in your mind and what the world sees, then skill is how you build that bridge."
"Odd as it may sound, personality is a skill. You can choose and develop aspects of it that will draw people to you and make them want to help you learn and improve."
