Starbucks and a Movie

You stop at Starbucks, but you just swig down your drink. You watch a movie, but in a week you forgot you even watched it.

Guess what might be happening? You might have unpleasant thoughts or feelings you are trying to avoid. You figure if you hold off thinking about them, they might shrink and fade away.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work that way. The only way to get them to go away is to become aware of them (as bad as that sounds). Then comes the really hard part. Accept what you're trying to not accept, and move on. 

If you can train yourself to raise your awareness of what you're thinking and feeling, you're more likely to get over the one you're trying to forget.
